We are looking for an Advisor - Integrated Planning, Concentrator to operate the process of planning for various horizons and identify opportunities for the development and improvement of tools, models, and collaboration for the concentrator.

This role is a great opportunity to be part of the technical team at Rio Tinto Kennecott (RTKC). Reporting to the Senior Advisor - Integrated Planning, Concentrator, you will:

  • Perform planning work for concentrator planning team in the 3 month, annual, and Life of Mine periods for the concentrator portion of RTKC, with a focus on 3 month
  • Run planning model for concentrator
  • Interface and collaborate with other teams such as concentrator operations, concentrator asset management, concentrator technical, marketing, finance, group risk, mine planning, and S&OP
  • Engage in concentrator planning meetings with stakeholders for both planning inputs and outputs
  • Perform as a credible technical resource for the concentrator
  • Work closely with concentrator Met Accounting to align plans as accurately as possible with plant conditions
  • Participate in project teams to solve process or planning problems in order to optimize value for RTKC

What you'll bring

To succeed in this role, you will have:

  • B.S. degree in Mining, Metallurgical, or Chemical Engineering or relevant work experience in mineral processing
  • Understanding of copper processing processes
  • Understanding of planning processes
  • 3+ year of experience in mining or processing
  • Strong commitment to driving safety culture

It will also be beneficial if you have:

  • Storytelling skills
  • Project management skills
  • Understanding of copper smelting and refining processes

Where you'll be working

Our Kennecott mine is a world-class, fully integrated copper mining operation, including a concentrator, smelter and refinery, located just outside Salt Lake City, Utah, in the United States. We produce copper, precious metals including gold and silver, molybdenum and sulfuric acid. Kennecott has been mining and processing minerals from the rich ore body of the Bingham Canyon Mine since 1903, and is one of the top producing mines in the world, comprising approximately 11 percent of U.S. annual copper production.
