Job Description:

Responsible for assuring that Life Flight aircraft are maintained in accordance with the Life Flight General Maintenance Manual (GMM) and that regulatory standards and requirements are adhered to. Oversees the Required Inspection Items (RII) program and personnel while those persons are performing RII inspections. Overall responsibility for quality programs and quality oversight within the Life Flight maintenance department. As a key representative of Life Flight to the FAA, assumes significant accountability for operational activities, especially for those areas with direct oversight.


1.Coordinates with local FAA inspectors with all activities on which approval must be obtained, including preparing and submitting various required reports (including SDRs and MISRs).
2.Supervises RII personnel, creating RII listings and overall responsible for all activities related to the RII process.
3.Oversees and maintain the Life Flight Continuing Analysis and Surveillance System (CASS), including follow-up and resolution for issues and items discovered during that process.
4.Oversees the implementation and maintenance of record keeping systems, including Flightdocs, within the maintenance department and ensuring listings of ADs, major alterations and repairs to each airframe, engine and appliance, and accurate records of total time, time since overhaul and time since last inspection and overhaul on each aircraft are kept current.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Valid FAA A&P certificate
  • Five years of experience working as an A&P
  • Working knowledge of both fixed wing and rotor wing aircraft

Preferred Qualifications

  • Factory training AW109SP aircraft with respective engine
  • Factory training King Air B200 aircraft with respective engine
  • Factory training Citation CJ4 aircraft with respective engine
  • Factory training Challenger 604 aircraft with respective engine
  • Five years air medical experience
  • Experience with turbojet, turboprop and turbine rotorcraft aircraft

Support the weight of aviation parts and equipment while transporting it. Push or pull portable equipment, including heavy items.

Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer parts, tools, and equipment. Bends to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items.

May be expected to stand or sit in a stationary position for an extended period of time. Includes working (standing) for extended period of time on a ladder or work platform.

Ascend and descend stairs to and from and off and on aircraft.

Raise or lower an object from one level to another.

Operate aviation maintenance equipment, tools, computers, and devices requiring the ability to move fingers and hands.

See and read various monitors and documents.

Transport oneself from place to place.

Move around on hands and knees, including in small confined spaces within aircraft. Lower body by bending at the hips and the knees or to place body weight on one or both knees.
