The Role:

As a part of this, Vivint Smart Home's Innovation team is looking for a Release Manager to help us release quality products to our valued customers. You will play an important role in maintaining the quality of Vivint's industry-leading smart home products.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Schedule and communicate all planned releases to various stakeholders in the organization.
  • Ensure that all work in a release is accounted for and tracked in the proper tools
  • Ensure that builds are fully deployed to proper targets.
  • Monitor release metrics and ensure that the proper release procedure is followed.
  • Schedule release readiness reviews before deployment and milestone reviews after each release.
  • Document and track releases and dependencies in a way that allows organic collaboration.
  • Work with the customer experience team to quickly identify concerns during releases.
  • Work with the release group to align release practices between teams to reduce complexity.
  • Regularly meet with various stakeholders in Product, Program, Engineering, and Quality groups

Required Skills, Experience & Education:

  • 4 years minimum in a release management, development operations, or software quality role.
  • Experience with Atlassian project management tools or similar.
  • Familiarity working with source control and various source branching strategies.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Passion for improving quality and efficiency through effective processes.
  • Experienced with agile development methodologies.
  • Ability to make decisions and perform risk analysis.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Well organized, creative, and detail-oriented, a self-starter who can identify problems, take initiative to propose solutions, and successfully execute plans.

Preferred Skills, Experience & Education:

  • Experience with continuous deployment
  • Experience with hardware processes
  • Experience with embedded firmware releases
  • Familiar with software testing principles
  • Experience with customer support principles
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science
  • Applicable certifications in software development processes
  • Project management experience

WORKING CONDITIONS:

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
