Summary:

The person in this position will work with multidisciplinary project teams to provide computer-aided drafting expertise using AutoCAD on a Windows platform with a strong emphasis on Civil 3D. This person will undertake challenging work on civil engineering projects involving data collection, planning, and problem solving.You will work with engineers to create, update, and revise drawings of mechanical, electrical, structural, or civil systems. Project responsibilities include development and management of overall project CAD file structure, basefiles, planimetrics, design surfaces and pipe drafting networks, construction drawings and renderings including assistance with determining quantities for cost estimating, and report preparation. Additional responsibilities may include construction observation, surveying, and monitoring.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Two-year technical certificate or experience/coursework directly related to the job responsibilities described above

  • 5 years of experience with civil engineering project design, layout, and production drafting workflow

  • Proficiency with current versions of AutoCAD/Civil 3D

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and word processing software

  • Strong technical skills including attention to detail, accuracy, and completeness

  • Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills

  • Ability and willingness to work cooperatively with project team members in a high-energy working environment that encourages self-initiative

  • Strong organizational skills including the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously

  • A flexible working style and willingness to modify personal schedule when required to meet deadlines and client needs

  • Legal authorization to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship from Barr, now or in the future

  • Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of experience working on projects directly related to job responsibilities described above at a consulting engineering firm

  • Familiarity with software packages including additional drafting packages such as Revit and Geopak

  • Familiarity with work in an industrial environment and basic knowledge of various industrial disciplines and industrial construction

A hybrid work arrangement may be considered for this position. A hybrid work arrangement refers to splitting time worked between a Barr office and a home office. This position can be based out of any of Barr's U.S. offices.

Compensation:

The anticipated base salary range for this position is $65,000-$80,000. Compensation will vary based on experience, education, skill level, and other compensable factors. Employees in this position may also be eligible for a discretionary cash bonus. Our compensation comes in more ways than a traditional base salary, and we believe that when all of those elements are combined, our compensation is a competitive part of the total value proportion of working at Barr.
