What You'll Do

As the Equipment and Delivery Systems Engineer, you will manage research and development (R&D) tasks leading to the development of new equipment, processes and systems that will enhance safety, quality, reliability and increase the company's competitive advantage in conjunction with IPL's global technology strategy. You will have the opportunity to change the industry by influencing peers while thriving on new ideas and demonstrating out of the box thinking. Other duties include:

  • Responsible for global technology project efforts to provide newly developed equipment and process-related technical support to maintain and enhance current business efforts. Other duties include:
  • Provide R&D engineering leadership and coordination for key technology development projects and DNA (Dyno Nobel Americas) wide market opportunities (local and global engineering and R&D efforts as related to approved technology projects)
  • Prioritize innovation developments and optimize by achieving cross-functional business alignment on strategic initiatives. Contribute to strategic planning and roadmap development.
  • Deliver direct effort on technology projects according to agreed scope, deliverables, budgets and schedules including the organization, prioritization and execution of multiple projects simultaneously
  • Translate strategic technical requirements into tactical and strategic project plans
  • Provide recommendations to Global technology Steering Committee and leadership teams for R&D project opportunities and priorities; Provide strategic thinking and project or equipment proposals to DNA product and industry management teams to support approved growth initiatives
  • Coordinate project proposals and opportunity discussions with DNA functional departments with the intent of building, vetting and progressing pipeline technology projects
  • Assist with engineering R&D efforts in DNA and coordinate these efforts with DNAP engineering and global technology teams
  • Support the implementation of approved engineering designs or process improvements for the surface and UG fleet and where assigned, facilitate the project management of such changes in a timely and safe manner
  • Collaborate with local engineering team for MPU commissioning/field support to build a better understanding of current equipment capability and customer needs (develop gap analyses and opportunities)
  • Provide in-field technical support in conjunction with the priorities of the DNA Equipment & Technology team as needed to enable and progress technology projects

What We're Looking For:

  • B.S. degree in chemical, mechanical or related engineering discipline.
  • 5+ years demonstrated experience in research & development, preferably in explosives formulations, chemical handling and manufacturing, and delivery systems.
  • Ability to influence and develop strong relationships with a variety of groups.
  • Demonstrated experience in creative engineering design, such as experience in experimental design, planning, and testing
  • Experience with rapid design iteration and making design recommendations
  • Strong knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems as well as chemical and mechanical processing
  • Ability to work independently and within a diverse team of engineers, professional staff, and production staff
  • Dynamic, flexible approach to work with a results-oriented attitude
  • Solid understanding of safety and chemical process control
  • Must be willing to undergo and pass an ATF background check as required to be a possessor of explosives
