The Center for the Enhancement of Engineering Diversity (CEED) is seeking an Assistant Director for Undergraduate Student Programs. The College of Engineering at Virginia Tech is investing in the success of our undergraduate students. The successful candidate will aspire to work directly with students to provide professional, academic, and personal development opportunities. Reporting to the Director of Undergraduate Student Programs, this position is responsible for developing high-impact support programs targeting undergraduate students from groups that are traditionally underrepresented in engineering. The Assistant Director for Undergraduate Student Programs will be responsible for the implementation of the Peer Mentoring Program. They will create and maintain systems to ensure that student participants are seamlessly connected to the CEED Office and other student service offices to support retention and graduation.

Additional duties involve data collection and analysis, formative and summative evaluation of activities, and the identification of and application to funding sources. The Assistant Director will assist with reviewing and monitoring the registration process for the Peer Mentor programs.

Required Qualifications

A Master's degree in Engineering, Education, Counseling, Student Personnel Services, or a relevant field is required. Experience with the design, implementation, coordination, or management of services for retention within the secondary/post-secondary level is also required. Ability to manage multiple and competing priorities, take initiative in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. An understanding of the developmental needs of undergraduate and graduate students. The successful candidate will possess excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills, as well as proficiency in using social media and other electronic methods of communication. Knowledge of Microsoft Suite of Office Applications is required.

This position requires a highly motivated individual with the ability to deliver a high level of interactive customer service who will develop and maintain collaborative relationships within the College and University environment. The Assistant Director for Undergraduate Student Programs must be able to work independently with limited supervision.

Preferred Qualifications

Familiarity with SLATE, Banner, Navigate, or similar platforms is preferred. Experience in implementing programs for pre-college and college students. This candidate should have demonstrated the ability to work well with students, faculty, staff, and community partners at all levels within a diverse, multi-cultural, collaborative environment.
