AUTOMATION SERVICE TECHNICIAN

Scope

A Building Management Systems Automation Service Technician is responsible for providing service and maintenance of Building Automation Systems. The technician may also respond to service requests and emergencies as assigned by Service Dispatch and is expected to maintain positive customer relationships.

Duties

  • Complete scheduled preventative maintenance and emergency service calls on existing BMS systems.
  • Troubleshoot installations and correct deficiencies without direct supervision.
  • Effectively communicate with customers to evaluate service needs, maintain proper scheduling, and ensure high levels of customer satisfaction.
  • Monitor customer buildings to ensure optimum performance standards are being achieved. Fine tune systems as new programs and sequences are developed.
  • Identify opportunities for additional building enhancements and perform upgrades and/or small scale

  • retrofits on existing systems.
  • Perform building surveys and work with Service Manager on estimating additional work.
  • Perform necessary software programming, equipment start-up, tuning and calibration and commissioning of building management systems.
  • Effectively provide feedback to supervisor for ways to improve the installation process.
  • Sell value added Service to improve and enhance the customers Building Automation System.
  • Stay informed of industry developments for energy savings strategies.
  • Be proficient in knowledge of following equipment: Chilled Water Systems, Hot Water Systems, Constant Volume and Variable Volume Air Handling Units, VAV Boxes, Variable Refrigerant Flow, and Lighting.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3-5 years field experience in the HVAC controls industry including DDC Systems commissioning, software integration operation, calibration, and experience with pneumatic controls.
  • Mechanical HVAC Systems knowledge
  • Knowledge of BAS commissioning tools and field circuit debugging skills a plus.
  • Understanding of the construction industry with emphasis in mechanical/electrical fields.
  • Ability to read and understand mechanical and electrical drawings.
  • Strong communication, organizational and documentation skills.
  • Competency in Microsoft Office, Visio, AutoCAD, and various operating systems.
  • Experience in Metasys and Alerton software a plus.
  • Proven track record of completing projects, being self-motivated and achieving customer satisfaction.
  • Willingness to travel.
