Deputy Chief of Party

Position Location: Washington, DC.

Position Summary:

Creative Associates International is accepting applications for Deputy Chief of Party for the anticipated USAID-funded Green Recovery Investment Platform" (GRIP). DCOP will supervise GESI and MECLA Teams and provide technical leadership for USAID Missions and Bureaus to identify qualifying projects; build a pipeline of investable opportunities; and increase investment by banks, financial institutions, and funds into sustainable projects that address climate change through mitigation and adaptation strategies. Must bring proven skills to work in complex environments and manage diverse teams. And broad range of technical and managerial skills necessary to support overall implementation of the program. Position will be based the Washington DC Area.

Responsibilities

Reporting & Supervision:

The Deputy Chief of Party reports to the Chief of Party

Primary Responsibilities:

    Advises a broad range of stakeholders including USG/USAID, lenders, investors, companies and service providers, local governments,civil society, and community groups on sustainable green finance themes and post COVID response and recovery.
  • Builds a pipeline of qualifying climate-related projects, markets the opportunities, and works with financial institutions, banks, and fund managers to secure sustainable climate investments that leverage private capital.
  • Engages in dialogues and events alongside wide range of stakeholders including governments, NGOs, entrepreneur networks, Indigenous Peoples, and civil groups to advocate for climate-friendly, low-emissions, and nature-based investments.
  • Contributes to the preparation and submittal of reports and assists with monitoring relevant program indicators and troubleshooting issues and challenges as they arise.
Qualifications

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in a relevant discipline (MBA, MPP, MA or MS in economics, management, public policy and administration, finance, development administration or other relevant field)
  • 15 or more years of experience, including at least 5 years working in the private sector with banks, investment funds, and other financial institutions in facilitating/advising investments.
  • Experience in investment marketing, blended finance, due diligence, and financial analysis/ modeling.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with a broad range of partners, including government officials, private sector companies, financial institutions, and other key stakeholders.
  • Robust network of climate finance stakeholders encompassing the key global climate finance platforms.
  • Familiarity with environmental/natural resource policy and practice.
  • Knowledge of USAID contract management, policies, procedures, regulations and reporting requirements.
  • Excellent interpersonal, leadership, and organizational management skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Fluency in English required.
