Civil Engineering Designer - Aviation

As we grow, we are seeking an experienced Civil Engineering Designer - Aviation. This position can be based out of our Colorado (Denver), Missouri (Jefferson City / Kansas City) or Utah (St. George / Salt Lake City) offices.

The Civil Engineering Designer will complete plan production, perform design calculations, and assist with a variety of civil engineering projects in the Aviation Market. This individual will have a proven ability to work directly with cross-functional internal stakeholders. Our Civil Engineering Designer performs engineering computations, conducts evaluations, design analyses, and design development, as well as prepares reports, recommendations, and opinions for approval by a Professional Engineer. They work as a member of a project team in the development of construction plans and acts as a technical advisor to technical staff using primarily CAD to develop engineering and design documents.

Responsibilities:

  • Selects, recommends, performs and directs procedures and preparation of preliminary and final design
  • Assist in coordination with other in-house disciplines and sub consultant services
  • Prepares plan documents and supporting design calculations
  • Demonstrates knowledge and application of engineering principles and completes fundamental calculations
  • Able to delegate CAD assignments and determine methods and procedures
  • Independently performs assignments on basic design elements
  • Trains CAD Technicians and Engineering Interns
  • Quality Assurance/Quality Control of work product
  • Assist in meeting deadlines and budgets
  • Work with project management team to identify impediments and develop / implement solutions to overcome obstacles
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • Competent technical skills required to complete basic engineering tasks
  • Proactively pursues design solutions independently and as a member of a team
  • Strong understanding of FAA standards, codes and policies
  • Strong organizational, time management, attention to detail and analytical skills
  • Ability to estimate man-hours for specific tasks
  • Advanced knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D software
  • Able to identify and obtain necessary data to complete design
